What is GACWRP all about?
The Georgia Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership (GACWRP) is a Public-Private partnership dedicated to restoring degraded wetlands, rivers, and fish and wildlife habitat in Georgia. The partnership, a joint effort among Georgia corporations, government agencies, non-profit environmental groups, and academia, helps fund priority habitat restoration projects throughout the state.
Our Mission Statement
This is a dynamic, evolving partnership of public resource management agencies, public environmental organizations, local government, the Corporate Sponsors and other concerned citizens. The Mission is to work cooperatively to protect, restore, increase, and enhance wetlands and riparian habitat in the southern portion of the Johnson Ferry Unit, while providing opportunities for people to discover and experience natural areas. To achieve this, the Partners will strive to:
  • Restore and improve wetlands, riparian habitat, and associated uplands by applying management programs consistent with the NPS goals for the advancement of natural areas that sustain communities of native plants and animals.
  • Preserve natural habitat, native species, and functioning ecosystems.
  • Create awareness and understanding of our natural heritage and the importance of conservation through educational programs
  • Promote the conservation values of natural areas through education and facilitate public uses of these areas that preserve the conservation values.
  • Encourage the management and development fo natural areas that meet the needs and interests of present and future generations.
  • Cooperate with other parites, such as business, community groups, and other park, recreation, and conservation agencies, in furthering the mission.
  • Identify sources of funding and solicit contributions for this effort.
  • Develop a schedule showing phased approach including major milestones.
  • Prioritize tasks within each phase in accordance with capital availability.
